Tijana BejatovićCulture & Communications Consultant

About

I’m Tijana Bejatović,

a culture and communications consultant, and I believe that what a company says and what a company does should be one and the same.

That’s why today I work with leaders and communicators to build systems that close that gap.

I don’t deliver documents that end up in a drawer. I deliver systems that get used, and the numbers that prove they work.

You communicate every day, and nobody knows anything.

It’s not a problem of too little information. It’s a lack of system. The message reaches the department head and stops there, and employees don’t even know the date, let alone why something is happening. When that becomes business as usual, people grow immune to information and quietly switch off, and you know far better than I do how much unproductive employees cost you.

And it can be fixed. Not with a “fun, pretty campaign”, but by setting up a system: who says what, when, to whom, and how you’ll know the communication actually had an impact.

15+ years, on both sides of the table

I’ve been doing internal communications for more than fifteen years: first as the person running it inside a company, and today as the person communicators and leaders call when things get stuck.

Before internal comms, I worked in marketing and PR, and that experience was essential to being able to do this job today. But what internal comms taught me is to truly understand business, right down to the bone. That’s why my work is always driven first and foremost by business goals, and I believe communication has to deliver on them.

I’m independent, so I can tell any CEO or board what the internal team can’t. And that’s usually the moment things start to move.

Numbers nobody else in Southeast Europe has

I run the only research on this profession in Southeast Europe: topIC_report. Three editions since 2023, 268 experts from 6 countries.

In the 2023 edition, I also asked 300 employees. It’s the only time anyone in Southeast Europe has actually asked the other side what they think about communication at work.

Their answer: only 14% know and understand why management makes the decisions it makes.

That’s why I talk to management in numbers, not feelings, impressions and assumptions.

fun facts

Before I got into communications, I studied art history. I started my career in film production, then moved into marketing, and then work took me where I still am today, and where I love being most: internal communications.

I don’t do clichés, generic answers or one-size-fits-all solutions. Every company is its own animal, so if we work together, I’ll ask you a lot of questions, and I’ll probably tell you a few things you don’t want to hear.

When I’m not at my desk, you’ll find me out in nature, in my garden, or in the kitchen.
